Super Fanicom Voice Module: State of the Universe: Winter 2009

Listen to our podcast!

It’s happened; the moment you’ve begged for you’ve been waiting for you’ve surely been anticipating on some level has arrived: Super Fanicom regulars Cuchlann, lelangir, and I have teamed up with — deep breath — SDS, TheBigN, and TheKittymeister to bring you a podcast that isn’t based on any one show and contains as few spoilers as possible. This means that anyone can (and should) listen to it.

Within, we discuss…well, everything. Believe me when I tell you I cut as many of the frivolous parts as I felt I could. And, for future reference, the VOTOMS character we talk about is this dude.

As always, your comments are appreciated. Let us know how much you like what we’re doing. You like it lots, I’m sure, but one never knows.

I liked this, the range of topics is nice, even I haven’t seen most of the shows referenced. Feels like an education. Voting for Haibane Renmei.

  2. Nazarielle says:

It’ll probably be a bunch of meta that’ll go over my head, but if it has lelangir it can’t be bad… can it?

  3. IKnight says:

Sorry to be a nuisance but – since I have things to see and people to do – can you save me a few minutes’ trawling through the file by telling me whenabouts VOTOMS is discussed?

I haven’t listened to previous podcasts, but could you please not use rapidshare?

For those that hate rapidshare/can’t download from them, mirrors:

I appreciate all the effort you’ve gone through here to make mirrors. We did try Megaupload, at least, and had problems with it, and we’ve considered releasing the podcasts as torrents. What exactly about Rapidshare concerns you, out of curiosity?

  5. “I’m going to kill you with your face.”

    Can’t stop laughing.

    /useless comment

  6. Turambar says:

Well, Rozen Maiden has 2 seaons and an OVA, so it adds up to well over 13 episodes so keep that in mind. My vote does go to it though.

  7. TheBigN says:

For those who want to see the website for the curling VN, here it is. NSFW +18, by the way. :P

And I’m sad that no-one seemed to get lelangir’s (I think) “Tea-tania” joke.

I just want to second the “no rapidshare” comment. It sucks and for example I can’t download your 2nd podcast because they’re out of slots for free users right now.

I guess they’re good if you’re looking for warez or something :/ But be pro and host it up yourself. Bandwidth is cheap.

  12. lelangir says:

I would also suggest that breaking future casts into 10minute blocks would be nice…we could experiment with some interesting formats a la bakaraptor/IcyStrum

    • Cuchlann says:

It could just be my personal cross to bear, but I personally loathe short segment formats. That’s not me talking as a podcaster — podwizard? — but as a listener to podcasts/radio shows. If I’m listening to something, I like hearing what the people have to say.

This reveals perhaps more about me than about our podcast — though it obviously illustrates part of the reason it’s always a little over an hour. Yes, the dark secret is — I think it should be that way! Dum dum duuum!

Of course, I’m not a listener, and people seem inexplicably off-put by the length. So it’s an idea, yeah.

      [See what I did there? It's meta-commenting. You'll get it when you're older. ^_^]

      • Pontifus says:

While I’m inclined to agree with you in general, we might be able to compromise by dividing podcasts like the one here into two parts; 30-45 minutes is still substantial, but much more manageable than over an hour, probably. We can’t exactly chop the episodic podcasts in half, but maybe we could offer a version that includes only the episode commentary — not that I’m particularly thrilled about that idea, given that one version would excise half of our work or more, but, eh, it might be a good idea if people aren’t listening to half of our work to begin with.

        • Cuchlann says:

Yeah — like I said, it’s probably mostly me. I’m always irritated when the podcasts I listen to are shorter than an hour. We’ll figure something out, I guess. Though, being digital, it is easy to listen to a podcast a few times, until it’s done. You know… Protip.

  13. ETERNAL says:

Curling eroge sounds so stupid it might actually be good. Also, I vote Haibane Renmei.

  14. Cuchlann says:

Also, OGT votes for Haibane Renmei. He’s at work or would leave a proper comment.

  15. ubiquitial says:

    Haibane Renmei, I vote for

  16. lelangir says:

Haibane is cool, though an LoGH [series of] podcast[s] would make me come harder than over 9000 omos.

  17. Omisyth says:

Lelangir simply disappeared to write more for the thousands of blogs he flits between.
