My choosing this as the coolest moment of 2008 has everything to do with my unhealthy fixation on bass guitars. Opening the page and seeing that first pic made me smile. For me it was the factory letting off steam for the first time which had that instant-charm-overload effect. Since it took a second viewing of FLCL for me to really get to grips with the thing, it's just as well that the first time through was so dominated by my reactions to inventive visual flair.
